Dover Castle
The site of Dover castle in Kent, overlooking the English Channel, has been strategically important since the Romans built here two thousands years ago.
Our view from the northwest shows the massive square twelfth century keep surrounded by the inner bailey with four of the castle’s fourteen towers. The complex Constable’s gate is on the right.
The building is in the care of English Heritage.
