About ​Urquhart Castle
The thirteenth century ruins of this castle in Inverness are found in the most romantic of settings on a promontory overlooking the northern shore of Loch Ness. The castle has been the focus for the feuds between local clans for centuries, most notably the Grants and the MacDonalds.
Our view is from the north-west and shows the ruins of the tower house keep on the left and the remains of the gatehouse on the right.
The building is now in the care of Historic Scotland.
