About Scarborough Castle
This castle in North Yorkshire looks down over the bays and seaside town from its dramatic headland one hundred metres above the sea.
Our view from the east shows the ruins of the massive Norman keep with the later fourteenth century gate and barbican on the left. The castle was damaged by shelling from the sea during the First World War.
The building is in the care of English Heritage.
