Newark is actually in Nottinghamshire and stands at a key route centre where the Great North Road crossed the River Trent. The castle stands along side the river.
Our view shows the fourteenth century river-side walls and towers with some of the luxury fifteenth century window additions that survived Oliver Cromwell’s destruction.
The building is in the care of Newark and Sherwood District Council.
